Spinning wheel next to WiFi icon on iPhone - FIX (workaround)

There's a spinning wheel next to the wifi icon that runs the battery down. There are lots of speculation as to "why" it randomly turns on (Facebook App, Voice to Text, Opening Safari, widgets etc) so I have discovered a temporary fix when I notice it spinning.

I press & hold the HOME button long enough to engage Siri - There appears a large colored bubble on the screen. I hold that bubble until it changes to a smaller one. Sometimes I need to "tap tap" the bubble or walk through this a couple of times, but it shuts down the spinning wheel. For some reason, engaging Siri seems to do the trick. I hope this helps.
