Videos sent through text message showing up with only blue picture.

I tried turning my iMessage off and sent the video as a normal text. The video I was using was long so it had me shorten it; when I sent it to another iPhone it went through. Not the ideal fix, but at least I was able to get my video through. Hopefully Apple fixes this issue in the next update.

iPhone 12 max pro with the same issue.... blue screen with audio but no video when sending via iMessage to iPhone X in another city.

apple support please note: sending the video to an iPhone 7 Plus through iMessage over the same wifi works. then taking that same video that the iPhone 7 Plus received, and resending it to the same recipient on the iPhone X that received the blue screen with audio only - works.

it’s the sending phone 12, not the video. Unless the video is converted by the iPhone 7 Plus.

all iPhones running the latest software.

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. It looks like no one has responded to your question. Here are a couple things that might help others answer your question:

1.) Does this happen with a specific contact or multiple?

2.) Does this happen when you send via iMessage, SMS, or both?

3.) If you email the video, does the same thing happen?

4.) What iOS version are you running? Check by tapping Settings > General > About.

I have the same problem when sending a video via mail . It turns out light turquoise with sound and no picture.

😬 needed to send videos in an urgent matter.

I have the same issue as everyone else here... it only seems to effect the videos sent to other iPhone users specifically... so iMessage. I have iPhone 12, they have variations of other iPhones. I know for a fact that my phone and my moms who I update for her are running the current versions and she is one who has the problems. It’s any video over 1 minute. And turning our phones on and off does not make a difference.

no fix that I know of. Please try sending it to an older iPhone (pre iPhone X) if you know of someone who has one. and then post your result back here so apple support can see it.

I have sent to old iPhones (iPhone 6), new iPhones, sent over email, sent as iMessage and SMS, tried restarting phone, putting in airplane mode for a time, changing the format of camera to most compatible, turned iMessage off and on, restarted my phone, reset my phone.. still the blue screen when I send a video. This is crazy.

I'm experiencing the exact same issue on an iPhone 12 (not Pro) running iOS 14.2. When sending longer videos via iMessage, the recipients see only a bright blue screen with audio.

In my case, I've only tested sending to recipients via iMessage who are also using iPhones, but this has happened with 2 different videos sent in separate messages to 3 recipients.

I had the same thing happen to me today with the iPhone 12 mini. They received a blue screen for the video with audio playing.
