Use AirPods Pro in Opposite Ear
I'm deaf in my left ear. When I try to use my left AirPods Pro in my right ear, it doesn't work no matter how I orient it in that ear. How do I make that happen?

The AirPods are shaped and designed to only fit in the left or right ear.
Hey Jeff,
I have the same problem. I was able to get the left bud to play, but I still haven’t figured out any tricks to get the control button to work.
What I’ve done is to alter the settings for the iPods. Go into settings-Bluetooth-(i).
In there I turned off the automatic ear detection setting.
I also turned off the spatial audio setting. Being deaf in the left renders that feature a bit useless.
I will probably toggle this setting every time I need to use the left bud, because I don’t think it will be all that often. And I like the way it works for the right ear.
I hope that helps.
Hello Jeff,
We understand you are trying to use your left AirPod in your right ear and we're happy to help. You will not be able to use the left one in your right ear. You can only use the right one in the right ear.
Have a great day!
OK, that's a huge help. I got used to removing the ear bud and having the music (or book or podcast) stop. That doesn't work now, but I can definitely use the left bud in my right ear. Just have to remind myself to manually hit stop. Like you, I can't figure out how to make the left bud control button work when it's in my right ear.
All in all, a great solution. Thanks!
