I have the same issue and replaced it three times at BestBuy.

It was a terrible experience, but my fourth AirPods pro 2nd Gen also got mad like the former three.

・ The circumstance

I have two devices using my Airpods Pro 2. One is iPhone 13PM the other is MacBook Pro (2021).

・ How to figure out the issue?

  1. Turn off iPhone.
  2. Remove device(Forget Device) from MacBook Pro
  3. Connect APP2 to MacBook with lightning to USB-C cable which is in the APP2 Box. Then the MacBook will ask you to accept an accessory or not. Accept it. This is important. I guess MacBook resets the case of APP2 via this wired connection. But I... don't know the why exactly.
  4. Cut the wired connection above step3.
  5. Reset your App2; Press white button back in the APP2 Case.
  6. Estabilish new Bluetooth connection to MacBook between APP2 and MacBook.
  7. You can hear charging sound of APP2 case again after the step6 in connecting charge cable.
  8. Turn on iPhone.
  9. Turn off the "Find my Network" in APP2 Bluetooth information. and Turn on again. APP2 will be on the map of Find My.
  10. Play sound of APP2 in Find My. If you can hear APP2's sound, Almost done. But iPhone doesn't show the connection with APP2 Box.
  11. APP2 case will estabilish new connection to your iPhone in couple min. You can check it out by the APP2's case icon on iPhone.
  12. Enjoy Fixed APP2.

Good luck.

So it seems to be a problem actually with both the AirPod and iPhone. I just fixed it by

1) Unpairing the AirPod by forgetting the device in Bluetooth settings.

2) Pressing the button on the back of the AirPod Case until the case light turns red then white to reset the AirPod.

3) Resetting all network settings on the iPhone by going to Settings->General->Transfer or Reset iPhone->Reset->Reset Network Settings

4) Re-pair AirPod

Then the Find My Play Sound on the AirPod Pro 2 case worked.

Oh no...I could not edit the reply yesterday.

Ignore the step I subscribed.

Here is new step for fixing.

How to figure out the issue?

  1. Turn off iPhone.
  2. Remove APP2 device(Forget Device) from MacBook Pro
  3. Connect APP2 to MacBook using lightning to USB-C cable which is in the APP2 Box, not through Bluetooth. Then the MacBook will ask you to accept an accessory or not. Accept it. This step is important. I guess MacBook resets the case of APP2 via this wired connection. But I... don't know the why exactly.
  4. Cut the wired connection above step3.
  5. Reset your App2; Press white button back side of the APP2 Case.
  6. Establish new Bluetooth connection of APP2 to MacBook.
  7. You can hear charging sound of APP2 case again after the step6 in connecting charge cable.
  8. Turn on iPhone.
  9. Turn off the "Find my iPhone". The menu is in Setting -> ID -> Find My. And Turn it on again. APP2 will be on the map of Find My again after this step.
  10. Play sound of APP2 in Find My. If you can hear APP2's sound, Almost done. But iPhone doesn't show the connection with APP2 Box.
  11. APP2 case will establish new connection to your iPhone in couple min. You can check it out by the APP2's case icon on iPhone's battery check gadget.
  12. If you cannot see APP2 case in battery gadget, go to "Find My" and select APP2. Then play APP2's sound. Remember this step. iPhone will lose connection several times. Repeat this step for a day. It will be fixed.
  13. Enjoy Fixed APP2.

So one other thing. Sometimes the AirPod just returns back to this state after working for a while.

It just happened to me again.

Just reset network settings on your iPhone again.

On the iPhone, go to Settings->General->Transfer or Reset iPhone->Reset->Reset Network Settings

Now I can find my AirPods again.

So this seems to be more of an iPhone issue than an AirPod issue, apparently.

You should meet the issue again frequently if you have a MacBook or iMac.

If the same issue above occurs after making my resolution, just reset the iPhone, and it will be fixed.

You don't need to re-pair it after rebooting your iPhone even.

I can't understand why I cannot fix the issue by restating my iPhone before stepping on my resolution.

But I can simply fix this issue by resetting my iPhone after my resolution.

This is a super mystery for me.

The Mystery made me replace my Airpods Pro 2 three times at BestBuy in 3 months.

I was glad to be able to help you.

I hope the information I am writing now would be helpful to you.

Thank you

P.S: My equip

  1. iPhone 13 Pro Max
  2. MacBook Pro 14" (2021)
  3. Airpods Pro Gen 1.
  4. Airpods Pro Gen 2
