Issues since 5B58 firmware update?

Running the latest software on my iPhone 14 Pro and iPad Air 4. Ever since AirPods firmware 5B58 was released, my AirPods Pro (1st Gen, manufactured in 2021) have been nearly worthless. The right Airpod constantly disconnects and is very difficult to get to reconnect to either device. If I pause a show and then hit play later, I’m getting intermittent sounds, as though I am a long way away from the source Bluetooth signal and it’s cutting out (even though I’m within two feet). And I’m getting recurrent crackling sounds in certain circumstances. They were working perfectly until this week, but now super frustrating. Anyone else experiencing issues?

Guys. I spent the afternoon with tech support at the Genius Bar and this is what worked for me:

1: Forget (unpair) your AirPods from ALL your devices.

2: Reset your AirPods to FACTORY SETTINGS.

A: On the regular AirPods, open the hood and hold the little reset button for like 30 seconds. The light should start blinking orange.

B: On the AirPods Max, take them out of the case and hold the crown and other button together for like 30 seconds and the indicator light will be blinking orange.

3: Re-pair to your device.

I can’t promise this will work, I’m not even convinced that it my problem has been resolved, but I’ve been using it for 6 hours and it has worked perfectly so far.

Give it a try. I hope it works for everyone.

First gen airpods Pros with 5B58 on an up to date iPhone 12. Since 5B58, I now regularly get 1-3 second audio cutouts while walking on the street where I absolutely never had them before. Curiously I have noticed they tend to happen more frequently in specific places as I'm walking, so I'm wondering if it has to do with handling interference/error correction breaking down.

I had AirPods Pro 1st gen firmware 4E71 working flawlessly on my iphones (6 / 6s / 7 / XR) respectedly on ios (12.5.6 , 15.7 , 15.7, 13.4.1) for months. Since this update 5B58, airpods needs to connect 2 ou 3 times before playing music.

When i pause music, it seems to restart Bluetooth on my iphones so both airpods ring to inform of a disconnection and reconnection.

When i take off one of my airpods same thing happens : Bluetooth turns off and on again and Airpods losse connection and sometimes only one reconnects.

Bonus: I tried to connect Airpods pro 1st gen on iPhone SE 2020 iOs 16.1 : No issue at all.

My question is : Does Apple force us to buy new iphones using planned obsolescence ?

Thanks for sharing that. I'm on iOS 16 with some of your same issues. But again, the timing is all this week. So, either somehow my AirPods were physically damaged in very odd and unknown ways (they weren't), something with iOS 16 (in my case) changed this week, or the firmware that was released did it. I've updated iOS 16 this week, so while it could be a persistent bug there, my money is on the firmware itself.

Does Apple monitor these forums or is there a way to submit a bug ticket to Apple for Airpods? I have the Feedback app in iOS, but I didn't see a place to submit feedback on AirPods (though did submit an "Audio" ticket). My AirPods are effectively useless right now because the experience is so aggravating, so I'm hoping they address this quickly.

Similar problem, iPad with iOS 13.5.

On every media app whenever I pause the content playing the whole Bluetooth shuts down for a few seconds and with it the AirPods also.

Usually I’ve got the iPhone around so many times It reconnects on the iPhone instead! other times it won’t reconnect at all.

I’ve got this problem with both AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods 3 (these started to make issues only when 5B58 came up).

They worked perfectly with the older firmware so the solution cannot be to update iOS or buy new stuff…

I AM HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE WITH MY MAX’S! I thought is was something did but clearly it’s affecting us both and those with other models! How the heck are they not releasing an update as it’s been more than a month since the update! My AirPods just tried to connect to a random iPad in a convenience store when I walked in while doing the connect, disconnect, connect, disconnect loop! 600 dollar headphones! I can afford to be upset too

I have the same issue. One of my airpods pro doesn’t work. I had this same problem with my airpods 1st gen. At this point i think apple does it intentionally. I am five days outside of my AppleCare. I paid $213 for these on sale and support told me to fix them that I would have to pay $252 at this point. I’m not buying any more AirPods I spent a fortune on these things and they broke because of their BS firmware update,
