Setting up mesh network

I have a MacBook Air and my son has a MacBook; we both have iPhones. While the Wifi (Fios) is terrific along a direct line of sight of the router and within about 30 feet, the loss of signal strength in the front two bedrooms, one of which now serves as an office, creates some real problems during the working day. I believe that a so-called mesh network would rectify the problem, but I don't have any real experience with them. Guidance, recommendations, and tips would be greatly appreciated.
