AirPrint: Landscape vs Portrait

Dear all,

I am trying to print a Word document (Word for Mac 16.42) to a Canon i-sensys MF635cx using AirPrint from an iMac (macOS Catalina 10.15.7). The document's first 3 pages are in landscape, the rest in portrait. The landscape pages simply print onto portait A4, so that the top and bottom halves of the page are blank and the portrait element simply runs off the centre of the page. This is infuriating. Printing documents from Word has been going on for a few years now; why does the iMac not allow me to print a document properly? Is it somehow new to Apple or are they simply incompetent?

I'd be very grateful for a solution.

This did not help with the printing issue. These articles tell you how to orient pages in word. That is not the problem. The pages show perfectly in landscape in one section, in portrait in the other, exactly how I want them to. When I go to print, this is what I see (and that is what prints): (OK, another problem - the image won't upload). Anyway, what I see is that the landscape runs off the page with the page still in portrait. By the way, since the original post, I upgraded to Big Sur. No change.
