Share my location unavailable

I cannot get ‘Find My’ to work on my new 8th gen iPad (ios14). Just wasted an age ‘talking’ to Apple support on chat. The first person asked me if I was connected to WiFi (!) then suggested a forced restart. The second is still asking what device I lost? My dog was more help. On find my... it keeps telling me I have to sign in. Under location settings i can’t switch share my location on or off and I keep getting the error message ‘share my location unavailable’. Help!

iPad, iOS 10

If yes, are you able to switch on the "Share My Location" feature if you disable Content & Privacy Restrictions? This detail can help us further isolate the issue.

Take care!

Thank you. It I don’t have screen time on and contents and privacy is disabled. When I last spoke to Apple, I asked the support desk about this complaint being widely reported by Apple customers and was told that all “Apple devices are different, all built differently”! I thought that was humans not computers! So I don’t hold out much help from Apple. BT told me IOS14 had caused many problems and they were hoping for another software update to sort them.
