Macbook Pro unable to verify account name or password for facebook.

I have tried incessantly to get this account to connect. I have added and deleted the account, changed the email on the account to a iCloud email, changed the password and confirmed entry of said password several times to no avail. I keep getting the same error message. that it is unable to verify the account name or password to connect my facebook account to my Mac laptop in the finder/settings preferences. I am able to log into facebook everywhere else and have searched online for a solution only to find no answer from a thread in 2018. Someone please direct me in the right direction???
