I ordered my MacBook pro a few days ago(30th October), it is still "awaiting shipment". It is expected to arrive next week. Is it possible that it will be automatically the new mac, or I have to return it immediately and request the new mac after I got my money back?

It will not be the new M1 Mac. If you want the new M1 Mac, you have 14 days to return the one you’ve already purchased for a full refund, and you can order the new one.

Well, it was still "awaiting shipment", and I called the support.
They were really helpful, have initiated the return, and I have received an email about my return request is being processed.
You can cancel at anytime—before it changes to "shipping"
After that make arrangements to return.
After you receive it, don't open it —and Call Customer Support (800) MY–APPLE (800–692–7753)
