I just started noticing over the past 3-5 days, when I am sent pictures through iMessage, they are not automatically displayed. It’s from multiple people, not just the same person sending me photos. I’ve reset network settings and haven’t seen to find a reason this is happening. I’ve attached what my screen
shows. Please note I am able
to see the photo if I click the file, but no preview as I’m used to.

I’m able to see the photos when I look at it by choosing the contact details. All the photos appear but I’m more so curious as to why sometimes they are shown like this in the conversation and other times
shown as the actual photo. As you can see in the attached photo, a contact sent me a photo previously, and it’s viewed in the thread and then a photo more recently and it is shown as below. (the one with the 💖 reaction is the issue i am having)
Hello, I have plenty of storage. I’ve only used like 1/3 of my 128GB. So it’s definitely not that issue. Any other suggestions?

Thanks for getting back to us with that info. What happens when you follow the steps below to view attachments for individual conversations? Are you able to see the images there, or are they still the folder icon?
"To view conversation details, tap the contact name, then tap
at the top of the screen. You can tap a contact to view the contact card, share your location, view attachments, leave a group conversation, and more."
