Bootcamp is not supported on a ARM M1 CPU. However, you can use Virtualization engines compatible with macOS Big Sur.
Microsoft started its ARM Window many years ago. Still Windows on ARM is not popular at call.
Even Windows OS and Linux OS may run on this new CPU, most of applications on these OS may not run on it. And it would take "years" to port them. Or may never happen.
Virtualization is always slow. I bet Linux cannot run on it either.
This a big NO to me. Seems I've to keep away from Macbook and instead stick to Surface Laptop (IMO, the 2nd best laptop) for years.
Wish this CPU die soon. So people can switch back. LOL

WWDC demonstrated Linux/Parallels on the M1.

Interesting. See https://www.zdnet.com/article/apple-m1-speed-tests-new-arm-macbook-air-blows-away-intel-based-macbook-pro/ . Surface Pro X uses Microsoft/Qualcomm's ARM SQ2.

That seems very unlikely. 😜
Apple's approach seems to be to lay the foundation, and provide developer tools and let the user community decide the future of the ARM initiative.
Apple, unlike, Microsoft, has been successful transitioning from PowerPC -> Intel -> ARM M1. The M1 success is TBD, though. Perhaps Intel can develop it's own versions of ARM CPU/GPUs.
