Missing Package

Anybody had to deal with lost packages? I ordered an Iphone 12 pro on Oct. 23rd. The package was suppose to be delivered on November 10 but unfortunately it was delayed. It finally got delivered on November 11 (today) at 2:44 pm. UPS said that it was left in front of my door. Got home today at 5pm and there was no package. Checked my mail room and it wasn't there either. I would have thought that these type of packages (Packages worth over $1000) would require a signature and UPS would just leave a note if they didn't receive one.

Would anybody know what I can do to rectify this? I already placed a claim with UPS and about to call apple after I post this. Is there anything else I could do?

Porch Pirating is unfortunately pretty common these days and with Christmas coming, and all the no contact delivery as COVID surges, it will go way up. Contact your local law enforcement agency and make a theft report. In some areas of the country they are not allowed to do a contact deliver so they do leave it. You might also want to consider a doorbell with a camera.

It’s too late now, but for future reference...

In the past, Apple had offered a form that could be printed, signed, and left in the delivery area (front door?) for UPS to collect. This time, Apple did not offer this form. But if you use UPS’ website to locate your package in transit, you may sign for it there. (You may have to enroll in UPS’ tracking service first.)

I actually have been looking to do contactless delivery but wasn't able to find that. Unfortunately, I just talked to apple and they said they can't do anything at the moment until I get an answer from UPS on what happened with the package. If they can't find the package, apple will have to resend a replacement. Kind of glad I don't have to pay a deductible (or at least they didn't mention a deductible)

UPS would also usually leave some sort of note if nobody picked it up but there's no note either. So that's definitely odd.

Indeed this has been Apple’s practice with UPS (in the U.S.) for many years. I received my iPhone 12 Pro from UPS in late October and my signature was required. Due to COVID-19, I was permitted to pre-authorize package release on the web, so I could get contactless delivery. Might you have done that?

UPS should handle this however they handle it. I would not expect Apple to be involved.
