Pink highlighting in Apple Mail

This a brand-new problem for me, although apparently it has plagued Apple Mail since time immemorial. I how have a pink highlight in my Inbox and Drafts directories when I ham actively in Apple Mail. How do I get rid of it? (I tried a 1917 solution that involved rebooting the Finder. Nada.) Thanks for any help you can give. I'm not a Pink-Email kind of person.

Never mind. I figured out that what is causing it is that my Apple Mail directories are slightly transparent. I changed my Desktop image to one of a sunset, and it is showing through my doggone Apple Mail directories, causing bands of sunset colors in the directories. Maybe this has been the problem all along, back through the six years of archived queries and Finder reboots of the past. Will leave this up in case anyone else has this problem.

Does anyone know how to make the mail directories opaque? Or to I have to go back to the sepia-toned image of the winged bull with a human head?
