Apple care coverage purchased through third-party

My MacBook Pro 2018 was purchased brand newThrough Amazon a couple years ago. When I went to the check my coverage website and typed in the Serial number it says purchase date cannot be Verified. Is this because it was purchased through third-party? Is there anyway I can still purchase purchase AppleCare? Thanks in advance for the help!

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.15

Not odd at all, if you understand the difference between a dealer and a reseller. You have a 2018 model. It is not a new model even if it just came out of the box. The original warranty started when the computer was sold to Amazon by Apple. Under the reseller arrangement that warranty is serviced by the reseller, not Apple. You have purchased a two-year old, new computer, with a warranty, if any, provided by the vendor. I don't believe that Apple would let you purchase the extended warranty, but the vendor may offer something. You will need to ask the vendor.
