Finder asks for password for every action

Each time I try to move or rename a folder Finder wants password permission.

This is not a shared computer and there is only 1 account and I am the admin of that - don't understand why I now have to give myself permission to make any changes to my own files and folders.

Is there any way to disable this, without having to alter the permissions on every folder on the drive??

Thanks

Apple Tech advise that opening in 'safe mode' will reset the permissions to where they should be.

Hope this helps
