iCloud automatically moves documents that I'm working on back to the cloud.

Often while I'm working on a Word document or a PowerPoint iCloud will move the document back onto the cloud. When I go to save the document, the file cannot be found and I have to save the document as a new document. Any images that I had in my PowerPoint thereafter cannot be "found" because the image was saved onto the original PowerPoint. If I re-download the PowerPoint from iCloud and try to save it again, an error message appears and I am forced to save the PowerPoint as a new file, still with none of my original images.

How do I stop iCloud from moving things back without my knowledge or while I'm working on them?

Hello RaymondosDeLargeo,

Thank you for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. We understand files saved with Microsoft Powerpoint are stored in iCloud and not locally on your Mac. We'll be happy to help.

It sounds like you may have, "Desk and Documents" turned on for iCloud Drive within System Preferences on your Mac. This will result with your files moving to iCloud and being stored there. You have the option to turn off, "Desk and Documents" by following the steps outlined here: Add your Desktop and Documents files to iCloud Drive

Please let us know if that helps.

Kind regards.
