Microsoft Office 2016 and Big Sur
Is Microsoft Office 2016 compatible with Big Sur? I've used it successfully with Catalina but am apprehensive about upgrading to the new operating system.

Microsoft recently announced that it was officially ending support for Office 2016 for Mac on October 13, 2020. Apple Silicon compatibility in Office 2016 is questionable.

I just downloaded Big Sur and my Office programs (word/excel) are totally grayed out, as in gone. I have a product key for my Office 2016 Suite and it doesn't work, I think because it's too old? Is there a way to get Office 2016 back?
It works well. But it looks a little bit different on the theme.
Has anyone tried to use Microsoft Office 2016 after updating to Big Sur?
I backed up my computer and downloaded and installed Big Sur. Microsoft Office is running just fine.
Works fine and also with the new M1 chip.
Thanks for answering this. I too am in the same boat. Assuming other than theme difference you haven't had any compatibility issues.
I only use Excel and occasionally Word and have no problems yet.
There were two versions of Office 2016. You need to update to the 64 bit version. Or you need to buy Office 2019 or Office 365 that are already 64 bit.
How to update to 64 bit version if my product key isn't even accepted? Is Office 2019 a one time payment instead of annually as in 365?
Thx!
Yes Office 2019 is a one time purchase.
Look above at "Bob the Fisherman" comments. Mine worked fine.
Thank you, I’ll look, but I can’t get the 64 bit upgrade download on a Mac looks like.
Tw I’m from Bluffton SC.
