"JDK missing" error in IDE (netbeans) on BigSur

I have to use Netbeans IDE for java programming, under school curriculum. However, ever since I updated to Big Sur, my IDE is showing this error :

I have tried to delete and then reinstall both, JDK as well as the whole IDE. nothing seems to work and same error is prompted even after re-installation.

Is there any way to fix this?

If I select Disable and Continue, then none of the programs even open, let alone run.

PS : I did try to run java programs on Xcode but I can seem to run it there either. As such there won't be any use in trying because netbeans is the prescribed IDE, but I thought maybe I could convince my teacher.
