After having updated to Big Sur my external Dell P2417 H monitor doesn't get a connection: "no HDMI signal from your device"
Anyone with the same problem or ideas on that?

Hi guys/gals,
I have found your solution for j5 Create Display Adapters. As you all may know, I contacted j5 Create about the issue and they got back to me a week ago saying they were TBD about a Big Sur driver for Display Adapters. Just this afternoon I got a email containing the new beta driver. I know some people don't trust betas, but please trust me on this. It does actually work right. I made sure to download it and make sure it worked before I made a reply about it. This is the full email which contains a link to the driver.

We would like to inform you that we have a Beta Driver for macOS 11.1 Big Sur available!
In order to get the j5create adapter working, it will require that we install the new j5create Display device driver. Please disconnect your j5create device if it is connected before continuing on to the installation process.
(NOTE: This driver is NOT compatible with M1 Chip mac books & macOS 11.2 Big Sur BETA we advise to disable automatic updates and do NOT update to Big Sur 11.2 at this time! )
macOS 11.1 installation steps:
1. Please click on the link below to download the driver install file:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/149mqP-puHkgSqBl4BsxaVRESeuOjKKFa/view?usp=sharing
2. Open Finder, then select “Downloads”
3. Locate and double-click the file labeled as: “j5create_video_adapter_driver-3.3-2021-01-03.dmg”
4. Please select “10.15-11-v3.3-2021-01-03.pkg” file (This is the macOS 11 Display driver installer.)
5. Proceed through the installation process to completion, i.e select “continue”, “install”, and enter your password when prompted
6. You will be prompted that our driver will be blocked (Magic Control Technology Corporation) during the installation
(Note: The installation might complete but do not restart until you allow the driver through)
7. Select the "Open System Preferences" button to take you to the "Security & Privacy" settings.
8. Under the "General" tab you will find a message at the bottom of the window that states "System software from developer “Magic Control Technology Corporation “ has been updated.......".
9. Make sure to unlock the padlock at the bottom left-hand corner of the screen to make changes (enter admin password) and to select "Allow" next to the message mentioned above
10. Once this is completed, you will be prompted to restart your computer. A window will appear, please select "Not Now" and then click the driver installation window option "Restart" instead.
11. Connect your device to the Mac computer and your video cables to the display/monitor once the mac computer is back up. Also ensure that your display/monitor is on the correct video input as well.
12. A "USB DISPLAY DEVICE" notification will appear in the upper right corner of the system Please be sure to click on the icon and select “Allow”.
13. The "USB Display device" Application should also open automatically. If it does not appear, please find the application on the Mac computers dock or launchpad to access the app.
14. Next click on the "Activate USB Display Driver" button located at the bottom right-hand corner of the window.
15. You may be prompted to allow the application. If you are prompted, please select "open system preferences" and Under the "General" tab you will find a message at the bottom of the window that states "System software from application “USB Display Device” was blocked from loading.”
16. Make sure to unlock the padlock at the bottom left-hand corner of the screen to make changes (enter admin password) and to select "Allow" next to the message mentioned above. (You should not have to restart your computer but please do if prompted)
17. An Authentication message may appear again, click "Open System Preferences" under the "Screen Recording" message, If this message does not appear, please reconnect the adapter. If the message still does not appear, ensure to check your Security & Privacy settings. Go to your Apple Icon > System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy tab > screen recording > Check if "DJTVirtualDisplayDriver" is there and has a checkmark next to it. Then disconnect and reconnect the device after.
Once these steps have been completed, you should now see the desktop background and the display should now be ready to use!

Same issue with me with my J5create adapter. It powered 3 external monitors separately and was great. I, not knowingly, upgraded to Big Sur and the adapter doesn’t work. Spoke to J5create and they said they are working on a driver to fix the issues. My question is how long will it take? I am on their list but I am now waiting 30 days and I need my screens. I have two working with separate adapters but I really need my third monitor. I use hdmi cables for the monitors. Any suggestions thank you
This one is compatible
StarTech

USB 3.0 to Dual DisplayPort Adapter 4K 60Hz
The j5create does not have the compatible drivers to support the Big Sur OS upgrade
Unfortunately, J5 Create is dragging their feet with a Big Sur update. I have the 3 display dock and it only works for a single display. I've asked for an ETA multiple times and get told that "They are looking into it".
What you stated is correct and I unfortunately downloaded Big Sur something I never do right away except this time and It knocked out the J5Create adapter. I had to find something to fix the issue and if you follow my thread I posted what I did to solve the problem.
I also am using the J5 create adapter and here it is mid January and they still don't have a fix for it, makes me regret purchasing it in the first place, pretty lame the only way you find out it won't work is after you have already updated the Mac
I had the j5 create for two external monitors that I use for my job! I was furious when it didn’t work with the upgrade! I bought a few adapters and found this one on Amazon that works!
I also run a MacBook Air (late-2017). This beta driver is supposed to work with all j5 create Display adapters. And I would have to guess, all Mac models running Big Sur.

I found this one that works! I also had the j5 create and was furious when it wasn’t compatible since I work from home! I cannot work on one screen! It’s too hard! So I purchased a few different adapters and finally this one worked!
you're welcome! Last night (Dec 16, 2020, 5 days after my original post) my Mac mini autoupdated to Big Sur 11.1 (20C69) and the *same* thing happened -- no second monitor. So I did this same process and it worked again! But man, come on Apple -- I don't want to do this every time I update the OS!
Not really sure. I didn’t have a docking station before, I just had a splitter. I’m just pleaded that things work as they did prior to the upgrade with a few additional benefits. I didn’t want to spend the additional money since I had purchased the splitter in May but I had no choice.
To everyone attempting this, it might be completely legit. Just be a bit cautious when installing drivers from a Google Drive link that request security settings on your computer and are not available from the company website.
I understand your concern. Originally I thought it was a virus. It works just fine though. I am fairly sure that the reason it is on Google Drive instead of their website is because it is a beta driver. It’s not the official release. So if you don’t trust me, you can wait a little longer. Obviously they have made a lot of progress and are near a final release.

p.s Google drive scans for viruses
p.p.s If you read the instructions that you found the link in, you would know the reason why system security blocks it.
I can confirm this worked for me. I was a little suspicious as well given it was a Google Drive link, but as they stated, Google does virus scanning.
Looking forward to them releasing a non-beta driver this one seems a bit wonky, had to disconnect & reconnect the adapter a few times to get it to work. It kept giving me pop-ups about JTV screen recording thing. Pop-up finally went away and it seems to be running smooth now. Thank you for posting this!
J5 Create emailed me the beta driver as well and I'm running it on my Macbook pro BigSur 11.1
However, I'm hitting an issue where the second display on the dock seems to be running at a lower hertz than the first. If you see the below image, any display that I connect to this port has a problem where it lags dramatically. Has anyone else experienced this same problem? All of my displays are configured to 60 hertz, so it's not a problem with how they're set.
Support is telling me it's my device, but this worked great on prior versions of MacOS. If I plug my dock into a mac with Catalina then everything works great.
which adapter worked out for you?
