iPod is disabled

Hi. My daughter gave my son her iPod. He has forgotten his passwords etc and now the iPod says he needs to connect to iTunes. He can’t remember how he signed in etc.

so, we have a iPod that we can’t get into. Do I need to take it to an apple store for a reset? Anyone know the next steps?
