Logic Pro X/Dropbox/strage question

I have a 2016 MacBook Pro with 500 GB of memory, running Big Sur. It’s almost full. I am trying to create more space. When I go to Apple/about this computer/storage/manage/reduce clutter/review files, it shows Logic Pro X files taking up a lot of space. It shows them in dropbox folder. I created these files on another MacBook Pro which I bought expressly for recording. I don’t know why it shows up on this 2016 MBP. The 2016 MBP does not have Logic Pro X installed, and Dropbox is not even turned on! I’m afraid to delete these files from the 2016 MBP because I’m afraid they will disappear from Dropbox and my 2019 MBP. Most of them do not even show up when i go to Apple/about this computer/storage/manage/reduce clutter/review files on the 2019 MBP. I have spent thousands of dollars paying musicians to record these files, and bought the 2019 MBP expressly for recording projects. I don’t want to screw up and delete them from everywhere.

Hi there jnhatfield,

We understand that you would like to free up storage space from your MacBook Pro but do not want to potentially lose any data that you store in Dropbox. We’d like to help however we can.

To confirm, are these files showing as stored on the Mac itself or are they uploaded to the Dropbox cloud service?

Dropbox and macOS Catalina 10.15 or later

If they are stored in Dropbox and not on the hard drive of your 2016 MacBook Pro, then these files should not be using storage space on your Mac. Use this great article to learn more about freeing up storage space:

We hope that information helps. Best wishes!
