OS to OS - Copy Apps & Files

I upgraded to Catalina with no issues except some apps require Mojave. Now, I can startup MacBook Pro from either OS.

How can I copy apps & files from Catalina to Mojave OS?

I don’t want to reinstall all the apps back to Mojave.

Thank you!

I should had mentioned that most of my music creation apps have licenses with a long list of plugins, etc. It can be time consuming if starting from scratch. 😁

That usually implies that the apps won't run correctly if moved. All you can do is try. The licensing information is not store in the app itself, so they may require that you validate the license on first launch.

Much was said prior to the upgrade path, back then.

And still applies where 32-bit and 64-bit is involved.

Mojave was last macOS to allow 32-bit usage.

Catalina is first to only run 64-bit apps/drivers.

Those 32-bit apps should be in the Catalina - Data drive, under Applications.

If it is not mounted under Mojave, mount it in Disk Utility.

If it is mounted, you can run the apps from that Volume, no need to move.

But, you can copy them over to the Applications folder on the Mojave Startup drive.

Some apps won't function correctly if not installed with their installer, so they may not work in either case.
