Yes, you can remove the flares using post process edit software, using what is called a healing brush.

Two options come to mind:

1. Snapseed is a free app and works pretty well
2. For an even better solution, but one which costs money is to have a subscription to the Adobe Creative Cloud and use Photoshop's healing brush

You're welcome. I'm not honestly big into videos, but I imagine one of the Photoshop tools will help. Though I imagine it will be somewhat tedious at best. For stills however, it takes mere seconds to use the healing brush, save and enjoy.

Maybe this is the issue I'm having? I'm getting images that appear twice, but flipped. In this one you can see the tree on the right, too.

Is there a way to fix the dots on videos? I have beautiful sunset and full moon videos that are ruined by the floating green dots. They look like tiny ufos.

Thank you so much for the advice. I have Adobe creative cloud, so photoshop is perfect for the stills. Do you know if the flare on the video can be removed with one of the Adobe tools? TIA

For videos you'd likely be better off using something like an After Effects tracking mask.
