iPhone 12 Pro Notifications with no sound or alert of any kind

My iPhone 12 is not sounding when I receive a text message. Everything else does sound. Please help.

Basically all I had to do was shut notifications off on the Apple Watch app. And everything works properly.

This is all you need to do:

Open Apple Watch app on iPhone

click in MY WATCH

scroll to MESSAGES. And hit >

check “custom”

and

cleck “Notifications off”

check “Notifications off”

text messages will still show up on your Apple Watch.

when someone is calling me, my watch only lets me know who called so when my phone is kn my pocket and i feel the vibration and look at my watch NOTHING. Only if my watch is out of Bluetooth distance, then I’ll get the call on my watch. Text are working with no problems.

My notifications sounds weren't working when my phone was locked but it worked when it was unlocked. Searched this problem and found this thread. Tried to take off my apple watch, and it worked -- the notification sound works while locked. I hope this gets resolved soon 😐

It is apparently an iPhone 12 OS issue, many of us without Apple watch are having the issue, and as stated earlier, after an hour on the phone and sharing my iPhone screen with a support tech, after his inquiries to engineering, they informed him it is an issue they are aware of and working on.

I have the same issue. Got the 12 a month ago and it worked just fine. I own an apple watch and they tried to tell me it is connected to my watch receiving the messages rather than the phone. And that is the design. To that I say that is hogwash. My husband and daughter have iphones and iwatches. And their does not do this. It is so frustrating. We rely on our phones notifications. Even my ring camera is not giving me notifications anymore. That is ridiculous. I just left the Android world for Apple. Now i want to turn my back on Apple again. Not happy.

I Posted about my 1 hr conversation with Apple Tech Support on 11/24, after about 45 minutes of going through all of my settings, the tech kicked it upstairs and they said they were aware of the issue and working on a patch. I'll give you the case number to prove it to them should you desire.

First you’re going to check your notifications If that ain’t working check in sounds and haptics if you’re still having problems scroll down to messages checking the messages section of settings by the way all of these are in settings then check your phone calls in settings by the way that FaceTime app that Apple got Get rid of it I think it’s what caused this I could be wrong thoughI could be wrong though check these thingszI could be wrong though check these things and if you’re still havingIf you’re still having problems get back a hold of me I might have some other ideas

I spent over an hour on the phone with people at Apple Support a week ago, first person went through all of the settings with me with no Joy, the second admitted they were aware of the issue and were working on it. This weeks update was supposed to have fixed the issue, so they said! After the update I'm getting intermittent notifications.

It’s exactly an issue between iwatch and iPhone. If I’m far enough away from my iwatch or I turn off Bluetooth the message app works as it did. I will get alerts. As soon as the iwatch is connected, message alerts on the iPhone won’t happen.

come on Apple, this should be an easy fix

GARMIN Users - I went into my Garmin watch Settings --> Phone --> Notifications --> disabled. I left it disabled for a little bit and did receive text message alert on my phone. I then went back onto my Garmin watch and enabled the notifications. Right now I am getting notifications on my watch and phone. Will see if this lasts ....

I have the same settings on my devices as you – but I virtually never use my iPad so don’t understand why my messages don’t come through while I’m at work. My work messages are really important and currently I am missing them most of the time.

In speaking to Apple Support they told me it’s a new feature. WTH? I asked what they are going to come up with next, we get an email telling us we have a phone call.

I emailed Tim Cook and told him that if Steve Jobs was still in charge, he would have fired the person that came up with the no alerts on your phone idea.

Same issue, turned watch off and got text tone. I played around with a lot of settings and I think the change that worked was simply going into watch settings and unchecking Mirror my iPhone and checking Custom. I am now getting tone with text while watch is on , turned out to be pretty simple . Hope this works for everyone!

I had the same problem for months tried every setting found there is a tiny tiny switch above the volume buttons on the side of the phone that turn silent mode on and off. Notifications sounds are back!
