iPhone 12 Pro Notifications with no sound or alert of any kind

I set up my new phone however I don't get any notifications to create a sound or haptics when I receive them. I've reset my settings after getting frustrated, restarted the phone, made sure to select sounds for each notification, set the notification preview to 'always', made sure it's not on mute and the volume is up yet I can't get my phone to tell me that anything has come in until I look at the home screen only to find i've received a bunch of notifications.

I get calls on the phone just fine but texts, discord, emails, etc. NO notification that anything has been received. I've spent hours pouring through the settings and nothing helps.

PROBLEM SOLVED!

My hubby got his iPhone 12 Pro on Saturday. He wanted to change the tone for my text messages. When I sent him a test text NO SOUND! (NOTE: neither of us own an Apple Watch.). I spent an hour checking/changing every sound setting I could think of. Finally, I opened the TEXT app, then swiped left on my name. Saw the problem immediately. The big blue MUTE box didn’t have the diagonal line through it, meaning MUTE was enabled for ALL MY TEXT MESSAGES. I hit the MUTE button, the diagonal line appeared. Sent him a test text. WE HAVE SOUND!

I just left the Apple support store and they fixed my problem.

On the iPhone go to the Apple Watch app. Check “custom” by BBC and check “notifications off.”

The explanation is, that the watch is receiving the text receipt first before the iPhone. By turning off notifications for text message on the Apple watch you’ll get the notification on your iPhone.

These are the steps.

On your iPhone, open up the Apple Watch app. Then scroll down to messages. Hit the right arrow, Then CHECK “customs” and CHECK “notifications off.”

This turns off notifications for messages going to your Apple Watch.

If this is left on the notifications go to your watch first and your phone will not make a sound. Turning notifications off on the Apple Watch s causes the text to activate your phone and not your watch. The watch still receives the text,

I’m now getting text notifications to my iphone 12 pro by doing the following:

If you have an apple watch: open up the Apple Watch app on your iphone and scroll down to messages. Click on the right arrow, then click “Custom” and “Notifications off”. This turns notifications off going to your Apple Watch.  If this is left on, notifications go to your watch first and your phone won’t make a sound.

Still on your phone, go to settings and scroll down to “messages” and click on right arrow. Make sure that only your phone number is checked and not email addresses.  Click the right arrow and see what all has been selected and de-select everything but your phone number.

Still under settings, scroll down to phone and click on right arrow.  Turn off Calls on other devices.

Now go to your ipad. Go to settings and scoll down to messages.  Make sure that only your email address is selected at send & receive and not your phone number. Click the right arrow to see what all has been selected and de-select everything but one email address.

I’m not sure if it was any one thing or combination of all, but now I’m getting text alert sounds. Basically I set up text alerts to primarily go to my phone  and not other devices and it seemed to fix the problem.  I think Apple still needs to come up with a solution, but in the mean time, maybe this will work for you.

Message notifications problem using Apple Watch

As mentioned earlier go to;

https://support.Apple.com/en-us/HT204791

Basically all I had to do was shut notifications off on the Apple Watch app. And everything works properly.

This is all you need to do:

Open Apple Watch app on iPhone

click in MY WATCH

scroll to MESSAGES. And hit >

check “custom”

and

cleck “Notifications off”

— text messages will still show up on your Apple Watch.

Ok, I spent a couple of days working through to get to an Apple Case Manager. Here is what she had me do:

  1. Complete an iCloud backup on your phone.
  2. Connect to Apple Music (iTunes) and you want to reset back to factory settings while it is connected to AM. Make sure your computer is updated to latest software version (14.6).
  3. Once you get the Hello screen, you want to set your language, etc until you get to the option to restore from iCloud backup.
  4. You'll have to set up your wallet, Face ID, etc, but you won't lose anything else but some customizations.
  5. All of this effectively uninstalls and reinstalls the operating system.

I am (for now) getting all audible notifications and alerts again.

Hope this helps! It's a hassle, but at least I won't miss calls, texts, and emails. Good luck!

You would be amazed at how many people don't even realize it's there. They will buy an 800$ and never open the manual let alone read through this thread enough to find out about the switch. Plus the issues they are having are exactly what happens when you slide that tactile switch above the volume buttons at least the ones having the issues without a smart watch.
