iPhone 12 Pro Notifications with no sound or alert of any kind

That is in your iwatch app. Go to Passcode. Go to Wrist Detection. Toggle off.

I've been going crazy with this problem all day and now just realised I had my phone on silent mode!

It's the little red switch at the external top left of the handset. Just flick it from red to black and all the sounds should work.

I turned off my “wrist detection” and now I get alerts on both the phone and watch. Of course you give up some functions but to me it’s more important that I get the messages than say health stuff, sleep and like auto lock.

Someone posted to turn off wrist detection on your iwatch. I did that, and that fixed me. Not sure all I am giving up in giving up wrist detection. I now get audible notifications to both phone and watch.

I posted the following last week that fixed the problem for me.

Open the Apple watch app on your iPhone.

Scroll down to MESSAGES

Then:

✔️ Custom

and

✔️ Notifications off

what this does, it stops notifications going to your Apple Watch and only to your iPhone. You will still receive text alerts on your Apple Watch but now you’ll hear the sound on your iPhone when a text message comes in.

I followed this thread with great interest as I had the issue. I tried all the suggestions, they didn’t help.

Looking further afield I found something I hadn’t tried. Maybe this is only me on my iPhone 12 but my solution was to turn off silent mode and bingo.... So simple but I’d overlooked it.

Basically all I had to do was shut notifications off on the Apple Watch app. And everything works properly.

This is all you need to do:

Open Apple Watch app on iPhone

click in MY WATCH

scroll to MESSAGES. And hit >

check “custom”

and

cleck “Notifications off”

— text messages will still show up on your Apple Watch.

If you turn off wrist detection off on your watch app, that works. However then you sacrifice functions that should be available to you if you own the Iwatch. It is a mess. I am very disappointed at Apple. My sons Samsung phone and watch both work. He does not have to sacrifice one above the other.

Turn off your Bluetooth. It’s the only thing that fixes the problem. Carried over from the iPhone 11.

Turning off Bluetooth, leaving Settings and then turning it back on worked for me. Although, this may be something you will have to do every day until an update comes

Also check on your do not disturb in settings

Thanks! I checked my notifications and you are correct my notifications were off!

I was until I just turned off Blue Tooth on my Plantronics head set. Now I can hear it through the phone.

My phone was having hte same problem, I went to notifications, messages and the sound was set to quiet/none which I never set it to, so I changed it and now I finally am getting alerts for text

I turned off Bluetooth & that solved the problem. Bug!
