iPhone 12 Pro Notifications with no sound or alert of any kind

I set up my new phone however I don't get any notifications to create a sound or haptics when I receive them. I've reset my settings after getting frustrated, restarted the phone, made sure to select sounds for each notification, set the notification preview to 'always', made sure it's not on mute and the volume is up yet I can't get my phone to tell me that anything has come in until I look at the home screen only to find i've received a bunch of notifications.

I get calls on the phone just fine but texts, discord, emails, etc. NO notification that anything has been received. I've spent hours pouring through the settings and nothing helps.

PROBLEM SOLVED!

My hubby got his iPhone 12 Pro on Saturday. He wanted to change the tone for my text messages. When I sent him a test text NO SOUND! (NOTE: neither of us own an Apple Watch.). I spent an hour checking/changing every sound setting I could think of. Finally, I opened the TEXT app, then swiped left on my name. Saw the problem immediately. The big blue MUTE box didn’t have the diagonal line through it, meaning MUTE was enabled for ALL MY TEXT MESSAGES. I hit the MUTE button, the diagonal line appeared. Sent him a test text. WE HAVE SOUND!

Just to troubleshoot.. try turning off the Bluetooth on the phone, have a text sent. What's the result ?

I have the same issue, iPhone 11 Pro 14.2 no text alerts with Bluetooth on, connected to iWatch 5 44mm

I have Do Not Disturb activated on my iPhone scheduled for 9 pm to 7 am. It seems like the silence never shuts off the watch.

So I turn off Bluetooth every morning turn it on and text message alerts work till the next morning... ?idk? : /

I spoke with an Apple engineer about this yesterday. Apparently if you have an Apple Watch, all notifications (and sound) will go to the watch but not both. I honestly didn’t even realize this but then I tested this and yep, I am getting the noise notification to my watch but not my phone which irritates me because I swear it did not use to be this way before I got the iPhone 12 Pro.

I've been watching this thread with amusement for the last several week, it goes absolutely no-where and it's obvious no-one reads complete threads. Two months ago I spent over two hours with two techs from Apple Support trying to diagnose this issue, I was bumped to an Advanced tech that confessed it is a known problem and the engineers were looking into it. it (posted that info two months ago) happens to 12 owners who own an apple watch and do not own an apple watch, with phones locked or unlocked and with Bluetooth on or off! I myself do not, on occasion, get a ring tone when called. To this day notifies are sporadic. Very disappointed that Apple has not resolved this issue.

That BBC didn’t belong there. I was dictating that outside the Apple office and the speaker was on and it picked up the BBC.

These are the steps. On your iPhone open up the Apple Watch app. Then scroll down to messages. Then check customs and check notifications off. This turns off notifications for messages going to your Apple Watch. If this is left on the notifications go to your watch first and your phone will not make a sound. This causes the text to activate your phone and not your watch.

Dear Apple users,

I was having

problems with receiving text notification for texts from my daughter.

I looked online

and found several articles blaming this on the operating system, and thought

that this must be it.

I tried calling my carrier AT&T, who had me do a number of things, but to

no avail. AT&T told me to call Apple. I called Apple and explained my

problem to them.

I get text notifications from other people, but not from my

daughter. I checked my contacts (Edit) and the Default sounds were shown Calls

and Texts. (I do not use these settings at all).

I checked and my daughters number was not blocked. It took a

2nd call to Apple, and speaking to a supervisor to find out what

should have been obvious to support agents from the start.

Unknown to me, if on the text contact in the text home

screen, one swipes left, icons come up. The bell/sound icon should have a slash

through it (yes, the agent said, backwards). If you click on it to not have the

slash through the bell, you have turned off text notifications for that

contact.

A small, barely visible icon will appear to the left of the

contact in the home text screen when the notification is turned off. I don’t

know how this setting got changed (I didn’t change it), but it is changed back

now.

Perhaps many of the other users out there are experiencing

the problem that I had, and what I described above is their actual problem..

I recently purchased the iPhone 12 and within a week it happened to me. No sound on iMessages. What I saw was all my text messages suddenly had the grayed out crescent type moon icon on the left of each message. Somehow Apple turned on DND on my messages. I didn't. If you see the icon, tap and hold, a window will pop up. If one of the selections has "Show Alert" tap it. That fixed it for me but I had to do each text message that way.

I had to totally restore the phone and start from scratch to get this to work. If I used a backup it would not work. I did notice if I had my Contacts turned off in iCloud it worked as well as having bluetooth off it would work. Also if I was completely signed out of iCloud it worked but my Wife then couldn't text me very well. I am still loading apps and such so not confident yet. Very frustrating.
