iPhone 12 Pro Notifications with no sound or alert of any kind

I set up my new phone however I don't get any notifications to create a sound or haptics when I receive them. I've reset my settings after getting frustrated, restarted the phone, made sure to select sounds for each notification, set the notification preview to 'always', made sure it's not on mute and the volume is up yet I can't get my phone to tell me that anything has come in until I look at the home screen only to find i've received a bunch of notifications.

I get calls on the phone just fine but texts, discord, emails, etc. NO notification that anything has been received. I've spent hours pouring through the settings and nothing helps.

PROBLEM SOLVED!

My hubby got his iPhone 12 Pro on Saturday. He wanted to change the tone for my text messages. When I sent him a test text NO SOUND! (NOTE: neither of us own an Apple Watch.). I spent an hour checking/changing every sound setting I could think of. Finally, I opened the TEXT app, then swiped left on my name. Saw the problem immediately. The big blue MUTE box didn’t have the diagonal line through it, meaning MUTE was enabled for ALL MY TEXT MESSAGES. I hit the MUTE button, the diagonal line appeared. Sent him a test text. WE HAVE SOUND!

Apple responded to me on Twitter with a link to a page showing that alerts happen on either the iPhone or iWatch but not both. This is crazy, because when wearing my watch, I tend to not get alerts a lot of the time. They should have a setting where you can select which one you want notifications to come through. Also, I’ve never had this issue until the iPhone 12 Pro.

Wow I wish I saw this thread before I just upgraded my phone from a 7 to a 12. The only problem I had with my 7 was recently not getting alerts for text messages when my phone was locked (I must have upgraded without knowing it). Anyway, the suggestion to turn off bluetooth did work for me (with my Apple watch still on). So that means if not using my airpods, which I frequently do, or not using bluetooth in my car which I frequently do, I can get alerts to text messages when my brand new Iphone 12 is locked. I also can't believe this was reported last November and no fix yet....Ugh....

p.s. My watch will vibrate if I get text messages but I don't always feel it....

Go to your MESSAGES, SETTINGS, and under SEND AND RECEIVE re YOU CAN RECEIVE IMESSAGES TO AND REPLY FROM, uncheck the emails you see and only select the phone number. someone on here bless them suggested this and it worked for me! Good luck!

If you go into notifications - Mail - Customise - click on your account, you will then find additional options to turn on alerts and select sounds, in which case if the alerts are off, all other notification settings will not activate, this is most likely the problem if you have checked all other possibilities within the settings menu.

It’s a connection issue between iwatch and iPhone 12pro once you take off iwatch iPhone starts getting text tone and all the normal stuff

I was able to get my sound for mail text etc. try moving the volume bar in settings to the left, stop and then move it back

Go into your notifications and make sure your messages are turned on.

I just looked and mine was randomly turned off

Hi all,

For me removing the email under Messages app settings under “you can receive iMessages to and replay from” seems to work in fixing this annoying issue.
