iPhone 12 Pro Notifications with no sound or alert of any kind

I set up my new phone however I don't get any notifications to create a sound or haptics when I receive them. I've reset my settings after getting frustrated, restarted the phone, made sure to select sounds for each notification, set the notification preview to 'always', made sure it's not on mute and the volume is up yet I can't get my phone to tell me that anything has come in until I look at the home screen only to find i've received a bunch of notifications.

I get calls on the phone just fine but texts, discord, emails, etc. NO notification that anything has been received. I've spent hours pouring through the settings and nothing helps.

PROBLEM SOLVED!

My hubby got his iPhone 12 Pro on Saturday. He wanted to change the tone for my text messages. When I sent him a test text NO SOUND! (NOTE: neither of us own an Apple Watch.). I spent an hour checking/changing every sound setting I could think of. Finally, I opened the TEXT app, then swiped left on my name. Saw the problem immediately. The big blue MUTE box didn’t have the diagonal line through it, meaning MUTE was enabled for ALL MY TEXT MESSAGES. I hit the MUTE button, the diagonal line appeared. Sent him a test text. WE HAVE SOUND!

Karen 143......I’ve been going through the same thing! Just went to the Verizon Store, where I bought the IPhone12 Pro Max, and got the answer! The girl that works there had the same problem. The Apple Salesman told her If you have both an Apple Watch and an IPhone, the watch will always respond first unless your phone is opened and the screen is unlocked! I tried it and it’s true! They said that that’s the way the software was designed!

Hopefully they put out an update to correct it, with price we paid for the phone and the watch! They really should!!

Good Luck!

This has been happening to me and it has gotten worse. I have a 12 Pro. It appears to be specifically with SMS messages. I have totally unpaired my watch and still have the issue. The only thing that seems to make it work is to completely turn off bluetooth. With bluetooth on it is very hit and miss. When I turn bluetooth back on it might work here and there but never consistently at all. And nothing is connected via bluetooth. This is rather ridiculous. I have restored my phone and it worked once for the most part. I had 3 people text me and it worked once. My Wife's 8+ works every, single time.

Same story as most people here on my iPhone 12 pro. I don’t use an Apple Watch. I have tried it with Bluetooth on (my preference) and off and get the same result.

For me it’s sporadic and doesn’t correlate to anything. I’ll get an email/text/call notification come through fine. 10 minutes later with no settings changed I won’t get anything.

I can imagine some people having the problem because there are 3 different places to adjust volume; ringer side buttons, swiping down for control center slider, and slider in settings under sound and haptics. They can sometimes all be set at completely different levels. I would suggest others check them all to rule out that issue. I can see the purpose of two different sound settings, one for ringer/notifications and one for system volume (i.e. music and apps). I don’t see why when I press the side buttons to put the ringer on max, the slider under settings->sounds and haptics can still be down. Seems like those two should always match.

In any case, I always check them when I notice the problem happen daily and it still occurs when they’re all at max.

Come on Apple engineers. Let’s get this fixed.

Your missing a solution from Apple unfortunately, its how they coded the software. They say if you are wearing your watch no need for notifications on ur phone. It’s redundant in the developers vision.

If u turn off Bluetooth on your phone and turn it back on you may get a short time where u receive alerts on your iPhone. Then eventually it goes back to the most annoying thing on the planet.

This only works for some people.

anyway good luck everyone.

I am running out if this thread

Couple things to try but they are not "fixes". Turn off Bluetooth and try it. Also try signing out of iCloud. You will need to make sure you go into Messages and FaceTime and the AppStore and Music to log in with your Apple ID but do not sign into iCloud. It's stupid but whenever I am signed into iCloud with my ID it hardly works. But if I log into Messages, FaceTime, etc., with my Apple ID but log into iCloud with my Wife's ID it works just fine. Honestly I will be going back to Droid. This was my first iPhone since the iPhone 4 came out and I have had it for 4 months and am ready to dump it.

My 2 month old 12 mini with 14.6 recently stopped giving text alerts. BUT if I restart my phone, it works a again for a bit then gets fainter & fainter & then stops until I restart again. No sound in text alert settings either BUT ringer works in real life & in ringer alert settings. Seems crazy I know but it’s become an ongoing issue that only restarting seems to fix (for a short time). Really hoping next update addresses these issues!
