Photos option not working in Messages in Big Sur

Hello . . .Trying to attach photo in Messages. I get a dialog box to update Photos library. It is up to date. Do I need Messages or Photos to be turned on in iCloud? If so, looks like I'll need to pony up for 100GB of cloud storage? Thanks in advance. - Derek

Fixed it today... but this is the step that did it.

Follow these steps to designate the current library as the System Photo Library:

  1. Choose Photos > Preferences.
  2. Click the General button at the top of the Preferences window.
  3. Click Use as System Photo Library.

Took level 2 support to get there.

Regards,

Derek
