Just recently downloaded Big Sur several days ago. When I type in a name/number to send a message I cannot go down and type a message. I can only scroll down previous messages to add another message. Selecting text in Messages using Big Sur Has anyone noticed that using Messages with Big Sur is a bit more difficult than past OS's? When I type a message and want to either copy/cut/delete something I've already written, I'm unable to press shift + left/right/up/down arrows to select the text. I'm forced to use my mouse to click and highlight the text which is very annoying and feels like I'm hitting a speed bump every time. I'm fully able to select text using the shift + arrow keys in any other application or browser, it's just Messages that's causing me problems. Has anyone had this issue or know how to fix it?

From the Help article, "Keyboard shortcuts in Messages on Mac": Option+Return. The article calls this "insert a line break in a message." While many (most?) text messages will likely never be long enough to warrant a new paragraph, it's still good to know.

try Control-return, Option-return, or Shift-return.

some of those generate a slightly different code not seen as message-end.
