The package "%@" is missing or invalid Error after download

I have tried three times to download and install macOS Big Sur over Catalina. I was successful on another Mac; however, on this MacBook Air mid-2013, I get this error after download and before instal:

The package "%@" is missing or invalid.

Any suggestions? Thanks. MelinAmarillo

Another option I would try. would be to re-download the Big Sur installer on the mac that it worked on. And then copy the installer over to the MacBook Air and try launching the app there. You will find the Install Big Sur app in your applications folder once it is downloaded. It is deleted at the end of the upgrade.

I hope this helps.
