Can't find anything in iTunes store by searching

iTunes store is telling me that "no suggestions or recent searches" are found when I search for anything in the store.

I've tried a number of different movies, even some that I've already purchased and downloaded. They are found in my library, but not in the store. Could I be doing something wrong?

Hey there augratin,

We'd like to help get your search results working right within the iTunes Store, so let's start ruling out some possible causes:

  1. We see you're using a Windows PC, so let us know if you have any system updates showing when you check. Also, here are the steps to check if you have the latest version of iTunes installed: Update iTunes on PC
  2. This may seem like a simple step, but please confirm if you've already tried a restart since noticing this issue.
  3. If you're using a Wi-Fi connection, we recommend testing while connected to another Wi-Fi network.
  4. If you still need help, the next step would be to contact Apple Support here: Get Support

Take care!

I checked and iTunes was on version 12.10.10. It has now been updated to 12.11.0 and that seems to have made all the difference.

I'm flabbergasted as to what this means - does Apple hobble the currently installed version of iTunes to force people to take the update? Why would version 12.10 all together stop working just because 12.11 is released?

Hello augratin,

We're unable to directly answer why an older version would have issues. What we can say is that new versions of any software do aim to fix bugs, increase security, and help keep up with compatibility as new system updates become available for both Windows and Mac computers. This is the reason we recommend checking periodically for any updates.

Have a good one.
