Initially I was told a software fix would be released just prior to Christmas. Frustrated that nothing was happening or even announced related to a fix, I started looking into what was out there on the net related to this issue. I found an article where someone described an internal company memo authorizing phone replacement due to the display issue. There is also a YouTube video showing a Chinese program that identifies which manufacturer made your display and showed the tendencies towards having this issue. I decided to schedule an appt at the Genius Bar and described the green flicker as the issue. They ran diagnostics on my phone. I described the issue to the tech. He said normally they would replace the display but since the phone parts are short supply they would just replace my phone with a new one. So this tells me there is no software fix that can resolve this. They’ve had more than enough time to figure out a software fix. They haven’t and they are still not publicly admitting this issue. The GB tech eluded to dealing with this a lot, but really never said they are or aren’t working on a SW fix. Go get your new phone is my recommendation.
Just got my iPhone 12 Pro and whenever the screen is black it keeps flickering and it seems to trying to make some parts black and some parts not black and just can’t decide. Very unhappy considering this phone is a 1000 dollars

Apple, you have launched iPhone 12 for almost 3 months and you still can’t find the way to fix this issue ??
So disappointing ! Please fix this !!! I don’t expect this from the phone at this price.
Does anyone know when Apple is going to fix the iPhone 12 screen issues on dark mode? I have the 12 pro and it’s been 2 months with no news or updates to fix? It’s to the point that I’m tempted to get the galaxy S21 if they don’t fix it. I’m pretty upset that I spent 1000 dollars and was told to wait for a software update by Apple employees. How long do I wait? It’s a serious problem they need to fix it. It flickers a ugly glow (greenish tint) pretty much anytime the screen brightness on dark mode is below 90 percent while in basic apps like YouTube and Messages. SMH Apple where you at?
Every time I’m on an app with a black loading screen I can see that my IPhone 12 is flickering a black green color and I don’t know why it’s doing that what do I do? Is it from dropping or setting it down wrong or something because I’m confused.
I have the exact same issue!!! For me when my phone is below 70% brightness, any dark grey or most notably black colours will have a green flickering to them like it’s some type of refresh rate issue. My screen in general doesn’t have a green hue to it 24/7, it’s just in dark environments below 70% brightness, it will flicker green badly.
does anyone know if this is a software fix or is it a hardware defect??? I hope it can be fixed via software.

I have an iPhone 12 mini and it does it. It wasn't doing it for the first month or so but it's been happening for about a month now, I'm going into only my 3rd month or so of having the phone. What the heck Apple??!!
Do you try to replace it for the third time or did you report the problem to apple support that even by replacing your device the problem is still remain. If yes what did they tell you about the problem?
Hi, thanks for your information. This is also my second replacement and the problem still exist. Also we don’t have any apple store in our country so i had to sell my previous phone and buy a new one . Funny thing is that I spent near 2000$ for an iphone 12 pro max 256gb . The production date is 2nd January 2021 . I think this is a widespread problem and all of units or at least most of them are affected. So i just hope it will be fixed via software update. Also ios 14.5 beta doesn’t show that the problem is fixed. Lets hope for a miracle. 😁
Same here. Literally made an optometrist appointment because when I shut all of my lights off, my vision was flickering shades of black just like my screen. Sounds like an easy lawsuit if apple doesn’t catch onto this ASAP.
Hey my friend thank you so much but in my case i don’t have that green tint but my problem is while watching a video with black background and turn the phone horizontal in that position in a dark room on 50% brightness i can see a light that tutm off and on . Check if you have it on your new phone tanxx in advance
Yes, that was part of the issue as well. The black OLED sections would flash. If you watch the end of the video you can see that. I just used the Notes app as an example, but it did the same thing with the black borders around videos in YouTube and other places.
Ok my friend keep me in touch try your phone after 10 days and see if you have the flash cause i know someone after 10 days he hot the problem of flash screen that’s why i wanted to inform you about it
I’m having this issue on prime video (iPhone 12pro). The border will flickers slightly. I honestly thought I was going crazy till I read this because it’s barley noticeable. Did you ever figure out a solution?
Not yet my friend hope it will be fixed in IOS 15 don’t think about it anymore as for me i’ve been used to it and it’s not notiveable that much , wishing for a fix as soon as possible i always trust in Apple company have a nice day
Yeah I got a weird flickering on a loop video today while the loop plays it like flashes that area of the screen on and off quickly and looks laggy iPhone 12 pro max
