I just found that my Iphone 12 pro photos will not load on the 'Photos' app on my Macbook Pro. I run OS 10.13.4 High Sierra. I will load all my old photos from my old phone no problem, and videos from the 12 Pro, but the photos just appear as a cloud logo. When I try to import manually with a physical connection to the phone it says 'Unable to read metadata. The file may be corrupt'.
I am not sure if this is a known issue or just with me.

I have now figured out what was wrong - I was running 'Photos' on a very old OS - High Sierra 10.13.4. The Iphone 12 pro photos are too advanced for this OS. I have since upgraded to 10.13.6 (the highest I can go on my ancient MacBook Pro from 2010), and the problem was solved.
I have this problem. I cannot upload iPhone 12 Pro photos to Wordpress, or other platforms, including Twitter or my web host's support ticket system. Sometimes they load and the file is blank. Sometimes I get a "Sorry, I cannot upload this file for security reasons" error. Photos from my previous iPhone all work fine.
It look quite a while working with my web host to figure out that the problem is limited to iPhone 12 Pro photos.
I just got a new MacBook Air (M1) and I think the problem was that iCloud was still updating my photos and I downloaded a photo that hadn't been updated. It seems to be working again.
