I have an older computer than cannot install macOS Big Sur on it. However the App Store shows on my computer an update for BigSur operating system. how do i get it removed from the App Store so it will not show up on my Computer anymore?

You should be able to control click the space to the right of the name and choose "Hide update". However it's worded.
I tried it and it does not work.
What version of macOS are you running?
FWIW, if you are getting an update notification for GarageBand that is something either Apple will have to fix or someone will have to come up with a fix.
Catalina 10.7.11 I think. --- the latest.
Catalina 10.15.7 I think you mean. There is definately an issue with GarageBand showing up as an update even though it can only be installed in Big Sur. I see the same thing.
I assume there is not solution to the Garage Band thing. I already sent feedback to the App Store. But other than that I do not know how to contact them.
How do you remove an update that cannot be installed in the App Store?
