How to make Reminders remember locations other than Home or Work

I frequently set a reminder for shopping at a Location, my local branch of Woolworths.

Literally every single time I start typing 'Woolworths…' it starts suggesting branches thousands of miles away. The one in Melbourne? The one in Perth? The one on the other side of Sydney?

Apple being what it is, I expected it to learn the more likely ones as time went on, or even just find the nearest one, but this has gone on for months. I can set a location for Home and for Work, and those come up but it can't learn anything new like a favourite supermarket or pharmacy.

I've already tried:

  • adding the supermarket as a Contact
  • adding the supermarket as a place on the Maps app

But nothing changes.

I also tried clicking on the Location itself when it appears in a mini map inside Reminders, but no options appear.

This is also hard to Google for because there are lots of pages telling you how to set a Reminder for a Location, but nothing telling you how to make it remember previous locations.

Hello JHAppleForums,

We understand that you want to know how to make the Reminders app remember locations other than Home or Work. We're happy to help you make different locations in Reminders.

Have you tried the Custom feature? Follow the steps below to customize a location.

"Add a location

Tap the location button  to assign a notification based on where you are. Select one of the options provided, or tap Custom to add your own location, choose whether you want to be notified when arriving or leaving, and set the perimeter of your reminder area.

To receive location-based reminders, make sure that Location Services is turned on. Open the Settings app, then tap Privacy > Location Services and turn on Location Services.d make sure it is enabled. then scroll to Custom and here is where you can put in the address of the location and also give it a title, such as Woolworths.

Click Done."

Use Reminders on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Let me know if that was what you were looking to for.
