When i shut down the MacBook and switch on my charger the sound power chime doesn't sound even though the volume is 100%... please anyone how to do about this ...even if it sounded sometimes its sound is like 10% even though it is at 100% ... PLEASE I AM SOO STRESSED BY THIS ISSUE
MacBook Air 13″, macOS 11.0
Now under 11.1 version the power (charge) chime doesn't work when the machine is off and it works randomly while on.
I tried to reset SMC and NVRAM to resolve the issue with no avail (so no point in trying).
I also tried to change the settings for the PowerChime App located in core services and that didn't work either.
I understand that it is a software glitch and would be resolved with future updates, but an advisory article which describes the issue clearly would be very helpful to those affected.
The power chime on my new MacBook Pro no longer alerts me when charging either. The change happens after updating to the new Big Sur os. I’ve tried the recommend steps by the original apple tech and yes my MacBook charges without a problem, but nothing. Can someone please tell us how to properly fix this.
I am experiencing the same exact issue since I upgraded to macOS Big Sur 11.1, it used to work under 11.0.1 though.

Does your Mac charge when it is connected to the charger even when you don’t hear the chime?

Also, go to System Preferences > Sound and tap on the Sound Effects tab. There should be an Alert volume slider. Is that all the way up? If so, how about the Output volume slider at the bottom. Is it all the way up as well?
