microphone icon on home screen

The home screen of my iPhone 12 Mini shows a blue microphone icon in the upper left corner. I did some fiddling around with my mic settings when "Hey, Siri" wasn't working upon activation. Another issue (possibly related) is that when texting, talk-to-text is automatic. So, even if someone else in the room says something while I'm texting, their words are entered into the chat window. Help, please! Thanks.

The mic icon (and other problem you mentioned) means that you activated VoiceControl and/or VoiceOver.

Both options are in Settings>Accessibility. Turn them off.

When done, restart your iPhone
