Installed iOS 14 now hangs up on start if cover closed
Open or closing not the problem, if cover closed when I turn on can’t access settings or apps have to shutdown turn on with cover open then operates normally

"Wake and sleep your iPad
Your iPad wakes or sleeps when you open or close your Smart Folio or Smart Cover.
If your iPad doesn't wake and sleep when you open and close the cover, go to Settings > Display & Brightness and turn on Lock/Unlock.
When you use an iPad Smart Folio or Smart Cover, always pick up your iPad directly—don't try to pick it up by the cover. The magnets in the cover aren't designed to lift the iPad."

Try a hard reset of your iPad by holding down both the Home and sleep/wake buttons simultaneously until your iPad goes to black and restarts with Apple logo, then release the buttons.
