Note unavailable. Owner stopped sharing.

I can't share notes with my husbands phone. It gives the message that the note is unavailable. The owner stop sharing, or you don't have permission to open it. I have checked all my settings and preferences and can't find it anywhere that I might have blocked sharing.

I've tried this but still get the same error message. Looks like there is a serious software bug in the iCloud/Notes system at the moment. Until about a week ago it had worked perfectly. I've also tried to create a Note on an iMac and sent the link to both my iMac and my Macbook (different macOS versions, same error message).

Which email client did you use? Maybe I'm just using the "wrong" email apps.

ok, thanks for your response. I made several more attempts, and it seems that sending the link has to meet two requirements to work reliably:

  • you have to send the link directly from your iCloud account. Sending it from inside the Notes app (e.g. "Copy Link" and then sending the link manually) often results in broken links;
  • you have to send it via Email. Any other means of transfer such as AirDrop, WeChat, iMessage, Telegram, LINE, etc., doesn't work reliably for whatever reason. I guess that's just an iCloud software bug.

However, I don't know to what extent Apple's current OCSP server problem affects this issue, see
