Safari/GIF
Hello,
I've noticed that I can't save any GIF from Safari 14.0.1 to my desk since I'm on Big Sur...
Is this normal ?
Notice : It's still possible with Google Chrome.
Thanks

Hello,
thank you for the answer. Precisions : when I drag (or save under) a GIF file on my desk with Safari, it appears to be a ".webp" from now on. The same file dragged with Chrome creates a GIF file.
How can I change this ?
Best regards
G
Hi there, gianmarcoFR.
It appears that you're unable to save GIF files to your Mac after upgrading to macOS Big Sur, and we're glad to help with this.
If you can’t download an item from the web using Safari on Mac - Apple Support -- If you're having problems downloading the GIF files,
If this doesn't correct the problem, please answer the following questions:
What steps are you using to save a GIF to your Mac from Safari?
What happens when you try?
If you receive a message, what is the full text provided?
Take care.
Thank you for getting back to us with that information, gianmarcoFR. It's helpful.
Get extensions to customize Safari on Mac - Apple Support -- If you have added any extensions to Safari before or after upgrading, turn them off and see if you can drag a GIF file without it changing. If it works, turn on one extension at a time and test. When you're unable to drag a GIF file to your Mac correctly, update or delete the extension you just turned on.
Clear your browsing history in Safari on Mac - Apple Support -- If the GIFs still change, clear the browsing history and see if it's working now.
Let us know how that goes.
Take care.
Thanks again for that information, gianmarcoFR. We understand the problem now.
GIPHY | Search All the GIFs & Make Your Own Animated GIF -- See if you're able to drag and drop a GIF from this site.
If you can’t download an item from the web using Safari on Mac - Apple Support -- With the added security with macOS Big Sur, Safari isn't able to find an app on your Mac to allow this. This would be an issue with Tumbler's site, and we recommend you contact them: Help Center. Their support link is at the bottom of this page.
Cheers!
Hello !
Well... seems to be coming from **** !
I tried without the only extension I have (Ag Guard), but it doesn't change anything.
When I open a GIF file in a new page, the bar shows this :
Then, when I save as from this page, the bar shows :
" tumblr_p59784fqBU1t6vx33o4_540.gifv.html "
I also had a warning pannel (see image) trying to open the file with Safari from the desk. Still I could open the file.
Curious, isn't it ?
Please excuse my basic english...
Kind regards
G
