iPad charging problem

So I’m using an iPad Air and it’s having some charging problems. I have it plugged in with its original cable and adapter and it’s not charging consistently. Sometimes it’ll charge but most of the time it doesn’t even register the cable being plugged in. I’ve tried with other cables and adapters( all official apple products) and the issue still persists.

Something to note: When I shutdown the iPad and then plug in the cable, it does start up, though I don’t know if that’s an automatic thing that it senses a cable being plugged it, or if it’s because it’s receiving charge.

If you iPad is shut-down, the iPad will power-up and reboot if it is connected to external power or its Power Adapter. This is entirely normal behaviour.

If you continue to experience difficulties, you might be best advised to visit the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store - along with your iPad, Power Adapter and cable(s) - where the technicians will be able to “hands on” test and assess your iPad and charging accessories for faults.
