softwareupdate cmd to fetch a full installer doesn't work with Big Sur

Hi,

i tried all possible commands to download the full Big Sur installer with the softwareupdate command.

Under Catalina it works, but under Big Sur it always fails.

softwareupdate --fetch-full-installer

Even with --full-installer-version i always get the following error message:

Install failed with error: Update not found

Yes, there are some workarounds available, but nevertheless it seems to be broken on Big Sur. Any thoughts?

macOS Catalina to Big Sur upgrade not working I recently found out that I can upgrade my MacBook Pro 13” mid 2012 which runs on Catalina to Big Sur, which would be very useful but all ways that I tried do not work. No software updates is available and I can not find A Big Sur download on App Store. Any help?

The Big Sur update from Catalina currently isn't available for me. How can I update to Big Sur? I just installed the latest macOS catalina security update (Security Update 2021-006 (Catalina)) and now I cannot update to macOS Big Sur. What should I do?
