Filtering by mailbox in Big Sur

I am a searching across mailboxes in Mail.app, but I can't see any option to filter by mailbox. When did Apple move that functionality to?

Howdy,

Mail searches in your currently selected Mailbox, so if you need to, "Show Mailbox List" under the View menu and click on your desired Mailbox. You can dynamically change which mailbox is searched under by just clicking on a different mailbox.

When searching, it is showing me the selected mailbox above the search results list as "Searching "Inbox - xxxx.icloud.com" (at the left of the Toolbar).

I can also View > Show Tab Bar to see the Searching area above the mail list.

You may also want to View > Show Favorites Bar to see your Favorite Mailboxes listed above the mail. There you can also select different Favorites to search under.

I'm not seeing a filter for date but you can search by a date or date range which effectively filters the mail by that range.

The available Filters I'm seeing are under the View > Filter menu. [Filters need to be enabled or the options are dimmed]

Note you will see "Include Mail From : [mailbox] only when "All Inboxes" is selected in the sidebar. If you have a specific mailbox selected then it is already showing content only for that mailbox.

You can sort by various attributes which may bring desired things to the top.

But more powerful is the Search which will "Filter" (aka Find) the emails of your choosing.

From Search for emails in Mail on Mac

examples:

from nisha

from nisha yesterday

Search a timeframe or range of dates: Type “date” followed by a colon and a date range, such as “date: 9/05/20-10/05/20.”

Another related question: there used to be a way to filter according to a range of options: unread/new, by sender, by date, by subject. Now, the only option is by "unread". The in-app documentation suggests these previous options should be there, listed in a checkbox format. But when I try to access them, they aren't there. Any idea how to get these options to show as the documentation suggests?
