Does the M1 processor support eGPU units as in the past with Intel processors?

BlackMagic says no for their eGPU with the M1 mini. There is a brisk 8-core integrated GPU on the M1 mini that may rival an eGPU in performance, depending on the application, and its ability to use that ARM GPU.

The eGPU Apple support document has not been updated

since March 31, 2020 so nothing official at this point exists.

There will be many that say with he M1 GPU it won't be necessary.

However, the new M1 Mini only supports 2 displays per the spec

and the only solution for any additional displays would require

some form of additional "device" for any one wanting more than

two displays.
