For this issue, make sure iOS is up to date:

Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Then force close the app and restart your iPhone:

Restart your iPhone

Try selecting your picture once more after that. If you continue to have issues, try using a picture taken with your iPhone camera and try more than one photo.
