How can I verify that Face ID is active on wake up. The screen opens so fast that Face ID does not seem to be active.

My iPhone 12 Pro opens so fast when waking up that I am not convinced that Face ID is really active.

How can I tell?

iPhone 12 Pro, iOS 14

Hi DJ_91505,

We see you have some concerns about the speed of Face ID.

Face ID is designed to be both very fast and also secure. On the iPhone 12 Pro, it is normal for it to authenticate at little more than a glance.

The easiest way to tell if Face ID is working properly is to look at the lock symbol prior to swiping up. If you bring up the Lock Screen, then look at your iPhone, you'll see the symbol change from a lock to unlocked. This signifies a successful authentication.
