External mic not working with Apple Facebook app

I use Facebook Live daily to post videos and have been using a Rode Wireless Go microphone plugged into the phone (iPhone SE - 2020) successfully for many months for my audio. After the iOS 14.2 update now any external mic will not work with the Facebook app, but all those same microphones will work fine to record audio in other audio / video apps. The mics will also work fine with Android phones. It seems to be isolated to the Apple Facebook app after the update. Any ideas?

IT'S FIXED!!! FINALLY!!!

I've just done several tests and Facebook iOS version 305.0 WORKS without having to use ANY other program AND the mic can be plugged into the iPhone BEFORE you start Facebook Live! Using an iPhone 11 Pro Max with the Apple lighting adapter and a simple lapel mic.

One iPhone secret you may not know. If you go to updates, and PULL DOWN ON THE SCREEN AND HOLD FOR 3-5 SECONDS, then let go, OFTEN you will be see many more updates show up. I have had it show maybe 2 updates, or even none, and after pulling down the screen and letting go I've suddenly had 20+ updates sometimes show up.

Thats great but it seem to me the iRig work-around provides a more professional sounding approach when streaming direct to FB page and no editing is possible when posted.

Be careful, tested the older iPad and it didn’t work. So issue fixed with iPhone 12, not fixed on older iPad mini4 or iPad air 2

I’ll test it with the iPhone 11 Pro and the latest IOS and app this weekend. Sure hope it works (although the iRig workaround isn’t that bad to use).

I use an iPhone12 which doesn’t have a headphone jack so can’t help you on that front....

I use an iPhone to record the live stream and an iPad to interact with the people watching live. I typically plug a headset into the iPad to check that the sound is working as it should.

I have the latest iOS update 14.4 and mine is still not working. It may have helped some but not all problems.

Thx for the reply. But don't you have a lag in people's responses, reactions? My testing shows that FB Live is not truly live, but rather about 15-20 seconds delayed to real time.

I have maybe a 3-5 second delay. I can spot check the sound, but would go a little nuts listening live and to the stream. So I listen now and then and carry on chat with participants.

I found a solution!

After thinking and troubleshooting, trying to get the facebook live stream to use external mic like it did prior to updating... I remembered that my ipad does not have "automatic app updates" engaged.

So used my ipad to live stream with the older version of the Facebook app that did not update.

Perhaps this will help others until the Facebook app starts allowing for an external microphone again.
